POLYTECH lightweight concrete (styroconcrete)

POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE is a range of levelling and insulating Polytech mortars. They are made of cement, regranulated (or granulated) polystyrene foam, the TECH foaming additive and mixing water.

Types of POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE

  • POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE typ 20/80
  • POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE typ 25/80
  • POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE typ 30/50

The number in the name of the product indicates the proportions of the cement and regranulated (or granulated) polystyrene foam. These proportions determine the performance of the mortar, its intended use and method of application.

Legal basis:

  • The thermal conductivity (lambda) values for the three types of POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE are 0.070, 0.084, and 0.108 [W/(m*K)], respectively.
  • The compression strength values for the three types of POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE are 0.4 MPa (400 kPa), 0.7 MPa (700kPa) and 1.1 MPa (1100kPa), respectively.
  • Reaction to fire: Class: A2-s1, d0 (classified as a non-flammable material according to the applicable technical requirements).
  • The material has a low specific gravity, which makes it suitable for use on flat wooden roofs (the dry volume weight is <260kg/m3 (typ 20/80 )).
  • Mechanical application is highly efficient: (1m3/5-8 min)
  • The material will fill any gaps in a rough surface.
  • The floor will be rigid, as the use of the material will prevent faulting of the insulation panels.
  • The floor surface will be resistant to deformation even after many years of use.
  • Good thermal insulation properties of the material will significantly reduce thermal bridges.
  • The material can be used to make floor layers with an additional continuous layer of sound insulation for ceilings (without wires or pipes passing through the layers).
  • The material does not contain any aggregate!
  • The binding and drying times are short.

The material is suitable for use in residential and commercial buildings and in listed building restoration projects. It can be used for or as

  • a lightweight thermally-insulating screed base on concrete, ceramic or wooden floors, on vaults, or as the thermally-insulating layer of a ground floor slab;
  • the thermally-insulating and load-bearing layers of floors made of cement screed with a Polytech mortar;
  • the thermally-insulating and load-bearing layers for underfloor heating systems (floating floor systems);
  • a lightweight thermally-insulating screeding and gap-filling layer of between 4 cm and 30 cm (a single layer).

Modified granulated polystyrene foam (the yellow bag)

Unlike all other mortars, the product packed in 200 L yellow bags is regranulated polystyrene foam modified with the TECH additive. Cement and water must be added in correct proportions at the building site. It is intended for making POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE types 20/80 and 25/80 (levelling and insulating mortars) in a free fall concrete mixer, a Kompatto mixer, an MP series mixer or any other low-speed mixing machine.

To make 1 CBM of the POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE type 20/80, you will need

  • 4 Yellow Bags of modified granulated polystyrene foam,
  • 8 bags (200 kg) of the CEM I, CEM II/B-S or A-S cement,
  • 120 litres of mixing water

To make 1 CBM of the POLYTECH STYROCONCRETE type 25/80, you will need

  • 4 Yellow Bags of modified granulated polystyrene foam,
  • 10 bags (250 kg) of the CEM I, CEM II/B-S or A-S cement,
  • 120 litres of mixing water
